What is a data plan, and why do I need one?
The data plan allows the product to connect to the Internet and transmit their location to you, so you can view it in the app SweTrack Live. Without a data plan the GPS will not work because it does not report its location to you.
What is included in the data plan?
The data plan includes unlimited mobile data for your GPS. The data plan is valid throughout EU and Schengen, which means that you can use the GPS tracker at no extra cost when you travel abroad in Europe, and the products are completely operator-independent, which means that they automatically connect to the operator that provides the best coverage.
What does it cost, and is there any notice period?
The data plan costs SEK 49/ 4,90 EUR per month including VAT. There is no notice period - you can cancel at any time.
Can I wait to activate my data plan until I need to track the device?
We sometimes get the question if it is possible to install the device and then activate the data plan when a situation arises that requires tracking of the vehicle. This could, for example, be in the event of a theft.
Theoretically, this works but it is not something we recommend because the device needs to position itself towards the satellites once the data plan has been activated. Before this is done the device will not be visible in SweTrack Live. To position itself, the device needs power, be outdoors and not be behind thick material. The risk of activating the device after a theft is that the device has been detected, has run out of battery or is indoors, which means that you will not be able to track your vehicle.
Another reason why this is not recommended is that you lose the location history and can thus only see where the device is currently located and not how it has moved before the last reported position.
