All SweTrack Lite devices manufactured after April 2019 come with a pre-enabled power saving feature that helps reduce the device's power consumption. This is particularly useful when the device is used for vehicles with smaller batteries, such as motorcycles. This article describes how the power saving mode works, and how to change the power saving settings.
The default power saving mode
The default power saving mode means that the device will only upload data when the vehicle is in motion. The built-in motion sensor is used to determine whether the vehicle is moving or not - when no movements have been detected for ten consecutive minutes, the device will disconnect from the network and cease to upload data until a movement is detected again. Please note that you can always see the most recently reported location on the map when using the app.
Aggressive power saving mode
There is a more aggressive power saving mode available, that causes the device to actually power down when it's not moving. This reduces the power consumption to virtually nothing when the vehicle is parked, however this means that you cannot change any settings when the vehicle is parked since the device will only be powered when the vehicle is moving. It may also take longer for the device to start reporting data due to the time it takes for the device to power itself back up. As such, we only recommend this mode be used in cases where power consumption is very important.
