Introduction
Normally, the SweTrack Lite never needs to be restarted. However, this may be necessary in some cases, such as when the configuration is changed or if the device behaves incorrectly. In these cases, we handle the restart remotely by sending a restart signal to the product, which means that you do not need to take any action.
In some rare circumstances, however, a "hard reset" may be required, that is, a physical restart performed by disconnecting the power to the circuit board and then, shortly thereafter turning on the power again. This is usually done at the request of customer service in cases where a "soft reset", i.e. a software restart done remotely, does not remedy the error.
Always read the other articles in the Troubleshooting section and contact us before performing a reboot, as it is only under specific circumstances that a reboot can fix any incorrect behavior. This article describes how to proceed.
How to do it
Important: Perform the steps below in the order in which they are presented.
Start by disconnecting the product from the external power source so that it switches to using the built-in backup battery. Then, carefully, open the cover of the device using your nail or a narrow object such as a small screwdriver in the opening notch on the top of the device, as shown in the illustration above. Keep in mind that the plastic is very thin, and that unnecessary force can result in the shell being damaged. Once you have opened the cover of the device, it is possible that one of the two LED indicator diodes flashes or lights up steadily. This is normal.
Next to the built-in SIM card you will find a switch. This switch controls the built-in backup battery. Make sure the device is disconnected from the external power source, and turn the power switch to the OFF position, as shown in the illustration above. This results in the device turning off, as the external power source is disconnected and the backup battery is turned off with the power switch. Wait ten seconds, then turn the switch to the ON position. After a few seconds, the indicator diodes will start flashing, which is normal during the start-up process. The indicator LEDs will stop flashing when the device has been on for about five minutes.
Carefully reassemble the cover and reconnect the device to the external power source. The device is now restarted. Keep in mind that it may take several minutes for the device to reconnect after a restart has been performed.
Note: under no circumstances remove the SIM card from the product. If the SIM card is removed, the product will not work.
